Bringing your dog along can make vacations and other car trips more fun while strengthening the bond between you and your pet—if you plan carefully. Travel Checklist

  • Appropriate restraint device, travel crate or carrier
  • Proof of vaccinations (consider scanning your pet's medical records to a USB device in case of emergency)
  • Food and water, bowls, medications, supplements and vitamins (even a few extra in case of a delayed return home)
  • Disposal bags for pet waste and cleaning supplies for emergencies
  • Grooming supplies, including an old towel in case of rain or for after swimming
  • Favorite blanket, bed and toys
